Shelley McDade, chief executive officer for the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, is the newly elected vice-chair of the Capilano University board of governors for the 2013/2014 year. McDade has been a member of the board since 2011.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Capilano University board. The Sunshine Coast campus was established in 1977 to serve the needs of our communities. Because it supports accessibility to university-level education without leaving the Coast, our local campus plays an important role in our community,” McDade said in an email.

Today McDade is the chief executive officer for Sunshine Coast Credit Union. She is best known for her commitment to creating value for members and her belief in the power of collaboration, with the intent to enrich lives on the Sunshine Coast.
McDade obtained her MBA from Aspen University in 2009. An avid supporter of the cooperative business model, McDade is passionate about living the ripple effect, of giving back to community not only financially but also from an educational perspective. She has presented to many community groups on various subjects including leadership, building alliances, change management, non-profit governance and local demographics.
A well-respected advisor to a variety of community and industry groups, McDade is also chair of the BC Credit Union Solutions Centre.
