RCMP bust two pot operations

Sunshine Coast RCMP recently busted a pair of unrelated marijuana operations on Gambier Island and Roberts Creek

On Sept. 5, RCMP attended a property located on Dulcie Road on Gambier Island, with BC Hydro security, for a theft of hydro investigation.

“BC Hydro security located evidence of hydro theft,” said Sgt. Russ Howard in a news release. “Police detected the odour of vegetative marijuana on the property and as a result of that, obtained a search warrant to search the property for both hydro theft and production of a controlled substance. A hydro diversion was located at the main residence.”

Howard said 60 mature marijuana plants were located inside the residence in the basement. RCMP seized the plants. Howard said no arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP received information about a large outdoor marijuana grow operation on a rural property located on Lehman Road in Roberts Creek.

On Sept. 17, RCMP obtained and executed a controlled drugs and substances act search warrant at this property. Howard said police located approximately 600 mature marijuana plants on the property and seized the plants. No arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing.
