The poster says it all: Beth is Back!
Beth Buono (Currie), a talented, young soprano from the Coast, dazzled in a magnetic performance at the Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt in May.
Next Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Gibsons United Church, you will have another opportunity to hear this wonderful singer.
Buono began her musical studies as a child studying both piano and violin and then in her late teens discovered her amazing vocal talents. As a graduate of the University of British Columbia music program, she embarked on multiple singing tours of Europe and China. Currently she is a member of the highly professional Vancouver Chamber Choir, is a lead soprano at Christ Church Cathedral and is an in-demand recitalist.
Accompanying her for Sunday afternoon’s performance is pianist Patricia Greenfield. She holds a degree in piano performance from Lewis Clark College in Portland, Ore. and has completed graduate studies from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She resides on the Coast where she is greatly in demand as a teacher and collaborative artist.
In addition to these talented musicians, the recital will include a performance by the popular local group Baroque and Blue featuring Sarah Harding, flautist, Kelly Smit, flautist and pianist, Gerry Millar, double bassist, and Tim Enns, percussionist. This energetic and polished group performed last month at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery’s café series and their program was enthusiastically received.
Their highly entertaining program will include repertoire from composers as diverse as J.S. Bach to Sir John Rutter and Coast favourite Celso Machado.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
