Sunshine Coast RCMP

Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking information from the public in identifying a suspect allegedly involved in a road rage incident on the morning of Feb. 26.

According to RCMP in the morning of Feb. 26, at approximately 9 a.m., a woman fell victim to an alleged road rage incident on Highway 101 near Norwest Bay Road in Sechelt.

“While she was stopped at a red light, an unknown male suspect allegedly exited his vehicle and stormed up to the victim's car, grabbing her door handle and breaking it in half,” said media spokesperson Cpl. Steve Chubey. “He entered the victim's vehicle, reached across her body and grabbed her car keys, breaking the key off in her ignition. He took her keys, and ran back to his vehicle.”

The suspect is described as Caucasian male, 30 to 35 years old, medium build, bald, wearing a blue plaid work jacket, and may have been driving a silver car. The suspect smelled strongly of engine grease, believed to be from working with machinery.

Police are requesting any persons who witnessed this offence to call RCMP at 604-885-2266 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
