Whiskey tasking fundraiser March 10

Habitat For Humanity

On Sunday afternoon March 10, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., a large section of the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Sechelt will be transformed into a unique lounge for 50 paying guests gathered to sample prime single malt whiskey.

During the afternoon, guests will take a short informative trip around Scotland via the whiskey trail. In all, six single malts will be tasted, plus a blended whiskey. Guests will learn how whiskey is made, distilling trivia and just who gets the “angel’s share.”

The event is sponsored by the Lifford Agency, which has as one of its core values commitment to the community by raising funds through many charitable events for worthy causes. Since most of the funding for Habitat homes comes from donations by generous individuals and businesses, bequests, and fundraising events, Habitat is most grateful to the Lifford Agency for their support. Monies raised at this event will go toward building homes in the Sunshine Coast Village project in Wilson Creek for the benefit of local families.

The host for the afternoon is Jon Bell, who has guided many tasters along the whiskey trail over the last 20 years. Bell will be ushered into the lounge by piper John Webb. Before the tasting, stomachs will be fortified with luncheon snacks donated by IGA Madeira Park. Later, light desserts, strong coffee and tea will be served.

As is the custom at Habitat for Humanity events on the Sunshine Coast, some interesting and desirable items will be raffled, plus a door prize worth more than the price of a ticket to the event.

Admission (including tax receipt of $25) is $40. Tickets are available at the ReStore; call 604-885-6773 or Doreen at 604-885-1945.
