Paramedics load a person into a waiting air ambulance at the Langdale ferry terminal last Saturday morning. Sunshine Coast are continuing to investigate a three-vehicle accident in Roberts Creek.

Two people are recovering in Vancouver General Hospital after a serious three-vehicle accident in Roberts Creek last Saturday morning.

Sunshine Coast RCMP are still investigating the accident that occurred on Highway 101 near the intersection of Jack Road on Feb. 9 round 9 a.m.

According to Cpl. Colby Attlesey, a northbound Jeep Wrangler lost control due to an oil slick on the pavement. It spun and crossed into oncoming traffic striking a southbound Chevy Malibu head on. The Malibu then struck a third car.

Drivers of both the Jeep and Malibu were airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the third car was not injured.

One of the air ambulances landed in the Langdale ferry terminal parking lot and traffic was delayed for a short period of time while paramedics loaded up the patient for transfer.

Attlesey said no criminal charges are being considered and speed was not considered a factor. The highway was closed for a period of time to cleanse the pavement of the oil.

If anyone has information regarding the source of the oil in the northbound lane of Highway 101 between Roberts Creek Road and Field Road they are asked to contact police at 604-885-2266.
