Scorpions amp up the defence

Youth soccer

Duncan Armstrong was the “man of the match” last Saturday in East Vancouver, as the U14 Scorpions defeated the fourth place Vancouver Greycaps 2-0 in rep soccer action.

Duncan played defence and striker, scoring both Scorpions goals and helping fellow defenders Liam Rankin, Evan Griffin, Bradley Huddlestone, Cole Cooney, Philip Fogarty and Jordan Kammerle keep the Greycaps at bay.

The score doesn’t reflect the Scorpions dominance of the game, as Finn Rogers, Everett August, Justin Fodchuk, Ben Luporini, Quin Towert, Gabe Goerzen, Bradley and Jordan spent most of the game in the attacking side.

Tristan Tidder logged his third straight shutout.

The Scorpions next game is this Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11:30 a.m., at Kinnikinnick Park against the West Vancouver Hawks.

U15 Team Orange

It was a very strong start during last Saturday’s House League game between Team Orange and the Highlighters.

Liam Fulkerson made some excellent passes and provided some great assists. Cameron Longman made a great cross in front of the goal to a teammate who made an easy header into the net for Orange. Miro Hawkes was rock solid in defence. Dylan Broeke made some great attempts at goals and was finally rewarded with a great header.

One of the Highlighters’ defencemen, Cole Vanderlinden, made a couple of awesome saves. He and the goalie, Taylor Shear-smith, were two standouts for their team.

The final score was 9-3 for Team Orange.
