In their final game of 2012, the U14 Scorpions continued to show solid play, both offensively and defensively, with a 7-0 win over the North Vancouver Fury.
The Scorpions defence completely shut down the Fury attack each time it showed any signs of life. Keegan Inkster and Cole Cooney used their speed, Bradley Huddlestone kept calm and passed with precision, Evan Griffin and Philip Fogarty tackled the wingers as they attempted to make a pass. Wingers Gabe Goerzen, Finn Rogers and Ben Luporini showed their versatility and stamina running back to support the defence and up to join the attack.
Jordan Kammerle recorded a hat trick, scoring the first three goals of the game.
As the Fury defence became frustrated, Duncan Armstrong and Quin Towert drew penalty shots, which were converted into goals by Everett August.
Ben ran through the Fury defence to score the sixth, and Quin chipped the ball over the Fury defenders as Liam Rankin ran onto it and got the seventh goal of the game. The Fury were lucky to get away with a 7-0 result, as Duncan, Cole, Quin, Philip and Jordan all sent dangerous shots right on net.
Goalkeeper Tristan Tidder got his third straight shutout.
The Scorpions enter the holiday break in first place, in the top tier of the league.
