There’s a new community TV show on the Sunshine Coast — and it’s waking up the quiet town of Gibsons.
Out Loud made its television debut on Coast TV channel 11 in early October and is the creation of Irene Orallo, from local hard rock band Sinmobile, and Coast TV producer Tamar Koslov.
Orallo is a big fan of original music and wanted to find another way to showcase her band and other original rock bands are the Sunshine Coast.
When Orallo made a call to Coast TV one day, Koslov said when she received the call, she was already thinking the same idea.
The half hour show highlights live performances and interview segments of each band. The bands play to a studio audience at the Beach House Show Lounge, a local recording studio and rehearsal space in Gibsons. The performances are recorded by the Beach House’s professional recording studio.
Before the bands play, Koslov and Orallo conduct the interview segment in the same building just a few doors down in Jordao PhotoGraphic Studio Gallery. Raquel Fors, the owner/photographer of Jordao PhotoGraphic Studio, is also a co-host of the show.
The first five episodes highlighted Sinmobile, Getaway Van, BOAB and solo artist Jomega.
In early November, Koslov and the Coast TV crew filmed four more live performances by local rock bands Ferrule, Muffdusters, Skraeling and Shanto. Those episodes will be aired in December on Thursdays nights at 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., Fridays nights at 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. and Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
Although the first eight episodes showcased rock bands, future episodes will include other styles of music from the Sunshine Coast and the Lower Mainland.
If you are a musician or musical group that writes and performs original music and would like to be featured on the show, email Orallo for more information at: sinmobilemusic@gmail.com.
