In a new contest just announced by the Town of Gibsons, every dog whose owner purchases a 2013 Gibsons or Sunshine Coast Regional District tag at Gibsons Town Hall is eligible to win the title of Gibsons "Best in Show".
The Town is encouraging all dog owners to bring in a photo of their pet to submit with their entry when purchasing its license (photos may also be submitted by e-mail). All photos will be posted on the Town's facebook page (www.facebook.com/TownofGibsons) where viewers may choose their favourite (the People's Choice Award) by "liking" the photo. Organizers expect strong competition for funniest dog, most unusual dog (because there are no ugly dogs), best dressed dogs, and the VIP Award as well as Gibsons Best in Show.
The contest closes Jan. 15.
Special year-end license fees are in effect until Jan. 31: $15 for spayed/neutered dogs, $30 for unspayed/un-neutered. Senior residents qualify for a 50 per cent discount on license fees; discounts for senior dogs only if they can produce their own Gold Card.
