A Gibsons woman accused of possessing child pornography has also been charged with one count of bestiality, Crown prosecutor Trevor Cockfield said.
“A new bestiality charge, pursuant to Section 160 of the Criminal Code, was laid,” Cockfield said. “She has to appear before the court on the new charges. Presently the matter has been put over until Oct. 29.”
Kelly Adams, 38, appeared in Sechelt provincial court on Oct. 17 to be arraigned on one count of possession of child pornography.
Adams, who in August publicly denied she had committed any offence, was released from court on strict conditions limiting her access to the Internet and to unsupervised contact with minors.
“The Crown’s going to be asking for another condition — that she not possess any animals — and that will probably be on the 29th,” Cockfield said.
Evidence presented in the courtroom falls under a publication ban and cannot be reported.
Sunshine Coast RCMP led the multi-jurisdictional investigation that also involved the Vancouver Police Department, BC Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, and Powell River RCMP. Police said multiple search warrants were executed, including one on Texada Island.
Adams told Coast Reporter in August that she would be fighting the possession of child pornography charge in court, blaming the incident on a house guest who compromised her computer.
