Calling for a highway review

The following letter was sent to the Ministry of Transportation and copied to Coast Reporter.

I have some serious concerns about Highway 101 and the volume of traffic.

My question now is how much time, money and lives have to be lost before the Ministry of Transportation recognizes the unsafe volume conditions on this highway?

I've grown up on the Sunshine Coast, and I have never seen volumes so high on our highway. In the last two years, there have been several serious accidents, including a fully-loaded logging truck overturning on the highway at a location where there was no alternative route available. In the middle of the busy tourist season, it's a miracle that no one was injured.

I am calling for a review of the portion of Highway 101 that connects Langdale to Egmont and for an adequate plan to be conceived to address the abhorrent, unsafe highway conditions.
