Arnold Skei, Ron Skei, and Darren Quist and their two young assistants gave Sunshine Coast search and rescue members Sue Duxbury and Robert Allen a cheque for $500 for first aid support for the fourth annual Brat Ride last Sunday in Sechelt.

The 2012 version of the Brat Ride (formerly the Brat Race) took place last Sunday with more than 55 participants.

Gary Jackson and Lydia Watson from Off the Edge Adventure Sports in Sechelt hosted the fourth annual ride. This is a ride where you race against your own age, not your competitor, as your age in years is subtracted from your time in minutes. The winning score this year was negative 21.

Jackson and Watson have been very supportive of mountain biking on the Coast for a number of years and were excited to welcome a new sponsor to the ride this year.

At the wind-up luncheon at the Old Boot Eatery after the Ride, Watson said: “We welcome Sechelt Plumbing as our major corporate sponsor and look forward to their continuing support for many years to come. This will be a big boost to mountain biking on the Coast.”

Arnold Skei, Ron Skei, Darren Quist and their two young assistants gave Sunshine Coast search and rescue members Sue Duxbury and Robert Allen a cheque for $500 for first aid support for the ride.

“We are very happy to be supportive of mountain biking and pleased to be able to provide first aid support for functions such as this,” said Duxbury, SAR’s search manager. “Search and rescue members were stationed at various locations along the course from top to bottom and were prepared for any first aid emergencies.”
