Children of all ages are invited to sing, dance, play and explore at Bobs & Lolo in the Park on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dougall Park in Gibsons.

The famous singing duo from Treehouse TV will be on stage from 11 a.m. to noon and will be available for a meet and greet after their performance. And the fun doesn’t stop when Bobs & LoLo leave the stage. Families will also enjoy a fun festival atmosphere and hear local author Heather Conn read from her new book, Gracie’s Got a Secret. The event will feature games, a bounce castle, a kiddy slide, a craft station, face painting and balloon animals, all included in the price of admission. Parents can bid on raffle prizes or purchase 50/50 tickets, and there will be hot dogs, popcorn and refreshments for sale.

Bobs & LoLo in the Park is being put on by the West Sechelt Playground Enhancement Committee in an effort to raise money for a new inclusive playground at West Sechelt Elementary School.

So far the group is about halfway to their phase one goal with $40,000 in the bank, and they aim to start building next summer. This event is just one of many fundraising efforts they have on the go.

Robyn Hardy (Bobs) and Lorraine Pond (LoLo) are dedicated to connecting kids to the natural world with music, movement and make-believe. Hardy and Pond say their mission is to “teach kids to care about themselves, their neighbours and the planet.”

In that spirit the event will be as close to zero waste as possible with compost bins and recycling boxes onsite.

Tickets for this event are available at Giggle ‘n’ Bloom and Pastimes for $45 for a family of four or $15 per adult and $10 per child aged one and up. Tickets will also be sold at the Thursday Night Market in Sechelt and will be available at the event.

You can try to win a family pack of tickets by entering a draw at the Thursday Night Market or by “liking” the Bobs & LoLo in the Park Facebook page online. Draws will have a winner selected at the end of the day on Thursday, Aug. 23.
