Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for July 22 to July 31:

• Overnight on July 22, a thief gained entry to an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Park Avenue in Roberts Creek and stole a car charger. Other vehicles in the area appear to have been entered as well, but no other thefts were reported.

• On July 24, a thief broke into a residence in the 5400 block of Wakefield Road in Sechelt and stole a black newer model Toshiba laptop computer and two brown wooden jewellery boxes containing a number of costume jewellery and gold necklaces and bracelets. Two of the bracelets have names engraved on them.

The point of entry is believed to be one of several windows that had been left ajar by the homeowners. The file is still under investigation.

• On July 25, a police witnessed a vehicle speeding well over the posted 50 km limit on Reed Road near Henry Road. The driver was stopped and while doing a background check, the officer determined the driver was supposed to be serving a 90-day driving prohibition for a previous traffic infraction. The driver was issued the prohibition, a violation ticket for speeding and his driver's licence was seized.

• On July 26, a possible impaired driver was reported in the 5600 block of Highway 101. The vehicle was stopped and the driver admitted that he did not have a driver's licence. The driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication and admitted to recent consumption of alcohol, was asked to undergo a roadside alcohol-screen test. The driver refused and was arrested for refusal, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. The file is still under investigation.

• On July 26, a thief gained entry to an unlocked residence in the 400 block of Marine Drive in Gibsons and stole a laptop computer, a set of speakers, a drill and some cash.

• On July 26, a witness reported a hit and run in the 3200 block of Highway 101 after the suspect vehicle backed into a parked vehicle and fled the scene.

A second witness followed the suspect vehicle in his car and advised the dispatcher when the suspect vehicle pulled over near Flume Road in Roberts Creek. Police arrived and noticed the "N" driver exhibiting signs of intoxication. The driver advised he hadn't had any alcohol that day, but had consumed a large amount the night prior. The driver was issued a roadside alcohol-screen test that resulted in a ‘warn’ reading. The driver was issued a seven-day immediate roadside prohibition, a violation ticket for failing to stop and driving contrary to restrictions for having more than one passenger. The vehicle was also impounded.

• On July 26, a vehicle sideswiped another vehicle in a parking lot in the 900 block of Highway 101. The sideswiping driver then exited his vehicle, removed his shirt and entered a business and fled out the back entrance. Police are attempting to locate the driver, as it appears the vehicle he was driving was taken without consent from another jurisdiction.

• Overnight on July 27, a handcrafted canoe went missing from an address in the 7500 block of Sechelt Inlet Road. The distinctive wood trimmed, green canoe, was left on the beach and did not have any other equipment inside it.

• On July 27, a resident lost a small pouch containing between 1o to 15 pairs of earrings. The earrings were of assorted gemstones, including diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphire and jade. The resident had been shopping in downtown Sechelt as well as at the Wilson Creek plaza.
