Photo contest launched

Hunting and fishing guides

Shutterbugs with a taste for outdoor adventure will have the opportunity to see their work on the cover of the 2013-2015 Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis, through a photo contest announced by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations.

The Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis is published every two years, and contains all sport fishing regulations in effect in freshwater in B.C., and is the go-to sourcebook for anglers throughout the province.

The ministry is also seeking photos for a similar contest for the 2014-

2016 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis. The Hunting and Trapping

Synopsis is a summary of the B.C. hunting and trapping regulations made under the Wildlife Act, prepared for the convenience of hunters and trappers.

Photographs must be emailed to synopsiscoverphoto@gov.bc.ca by Oct. 1, 2012 for the Fishing Synopsis and by October 1, 2013 for the Hunting and Trapping Synopsis in order to be considered.

Each publication year, 450,000 copies of the Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis and 250,000 copies of the Hunting and Trapping Synopsis Regulations are distributed to outdoor recreation shops throughout B.C. Both documents are published in two-year intervals, but this is the first time that a contest has been held to determine what photo will appear on the cover.

Photos have to be relevant to hunting, fishing or trapping in B.C., and there is no limit to the number of submissions that can be made. Full contest rules can be found at http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/photo.html.
