Jobs exhibit to visit Gibsons

News in brief

The public is invited to attend and get involved with the BC Jobs Start Here Mobile Exhibit tour as it visits Gibsons as part of the Sea Cavalcade festivities this weekend to help British Columbians find their next job or career.

The exhibit is a hands-on experience that connects British Columbians with career information, employment services, job banks and local job events through WorkBC.

The BC Jobs Start Here Mobile Exhibit is part of Canada Starts Here: The BC Jobs Plan, the Government of British Columbia’s plan to promote economic development and job growth in the province.

The exhibit runs from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Brothers Park and 4:30 to 11 p.m. in Holland/Winegarden Park and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. in Winegarden Park.

Sea Cav seeks volunteers

More volunteers are needed to help with events at this weekend’s Sea Cavalcade in Gibsons.

Caroline and Wayne Kline are newcomers to the Coast who were so impressed by Gibsons Sea Cavalcade last year that they volunteered to organize the volunteers for this year. Unfortunately, many of the traditional volunteers who have assisted in the past are not able to contribute this year.

Volunteers are needed for only a few hours to help with everything from parade marshalling (morning) to the salmon barbecue (Saturday night) to selling street dance admissions (Saturday night) to selling souvenirs (anytime). A volunteer could choose an event and time of day that suited them.

If you can help out email the Kline’s at carolinekline12@gmail.com or call 604-886-3377.

Fraser Blues this weekend

Due to working out last minute insurance issues, the Fraser Blues Aerial Formation Demonstration Team will be on hand this weekend at Sea Cav.

Look for their show high in the skies above Gibsons at 12:30 p.m. this Sunday.
