Roberts Creek

Just a reminder that Stonewall Pride is happening tonight (Friday) at the Roberts Creek Hall. There will be DJ performances, a concert and lots of fun all starting at 7 p.m.

This Sunday stroll down to the Heart of the Creek and enjoy the new market. There is a variety of farm fresh organic food, local artisans and live music. If you wish to participate call Ian at 604-885-2580.

Please also note that the transit schedule changes on June 25 to hopefully match the summer activities with the ferry. Please check www.scrd.ca or call 604-885-6899 for more information.

All residents of the Sunshine Coast are invited to enjoy the fun on Cowrie Street as the seventh annual Sechelt Night Market, sponsored by the Sechelt Downtown Business Association, takes place each Thursday, until the Labour Day weekend.  Visit the merchants who are open to serve your needs and enjoy the many vendors.  For more information call 604-885-9611.

Canada Day is just around the corner.

On Sunday, July 1 enjoy the annual Canada Parade on Cowrie Street beginning at 11 a.m. After the parade there are many activities at Hackett Park from 11:30 until 4:30 p.m. The Family Beer Garden has returned with Gaetan Bergevin and friends, food by Sergios and entertainment for the whole family. See more in the special Canada Day pull-out section in today’s print edition of Coast Reporter.

A staged reading of Catholic Erotica (Be Proud of Your Shame!) by David Roche takes place on Thursday, July 5 at 8 p.m. at the Gumboot Restaurant. Admission is by donation. Roche continues to sharpen his new show in preparation for a U.K. tour (not in Belfast, where it has been banned). Johanna Renee will open.

Creek Daze is Aug. 18 and the Roberts Creek Library would appreciate any donations for their annual book sale. Also a reminder that the special interest shelf currently features writers who are speaking at the Festival of the Written Arts in August in Sechelt. The library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
