Drive less, walk more

Editor:

I am writing in regard to the letter about gas prices (Coast Reporter, May 4).

I see these letters quite often and indeed it may very well be that we “are being ripped off” as the Coast doesn’t pay the extra transit fees charged in Vancouver, yet we often have the same prices.

I think the high gas prices are a good opportunity to reflect on our own lifestyles and consider how we could really send an effective message to big oil. If we could all drive a little less and instead sometimes use transit, walk, bike and carpool, we could make a political and environmental statement that would be positive and give us, the individuals, a further measure of control.
