Gumboot Connection

Roberts Creek

The co-ordinators of the Roberts Creek community clean-up ‘Pitch In' were happy with the number of people who stopped by their table at Earth Day, and grateful to those who committed to clean up a part of the area making up Roberts Creek, however much or little that may be.

Official clean up dates are April 22 to May 20, but there are still areas to be filled, so if you missed them at Earth Day and/or would still like to contribute, please call Helen Oster at 604-741-0988.

This year was fabulous weather with many people down at the beach on Earth Day. Many kudos for the day, and it was a real success all round.

Now that spring is finally here and the garden is calling, why not check out the garden books at the Roberts Creek Library. Drop by when the library is open and the friendly staff will be pleased to point in the direction of the book that will help you to create your dream garden.

Just a reminder to drivers using Lower Road — please slow down! With the lighter nights many residents and children are out enjoying the beauty of the Creek.

Please help them to be safe. Thank you.

The 6th Roberts Creek Scout group is now taking names for its waiting list for registration this fall. If you would like to enroll your boy or girl in the active Beaver (ages five to 7) or Cubs (ages 8 to 10) program, please call 604-886-7140. Visitations to one of our meetings can be arranged. We meet at Haida Lodge, Camp Byng on Tuesdays. We are also collecting bottles and cans so if you have some you would like picked up please give us a call at the above number to make arrangements.

If you have material for this column, please give me a call at 604-886-7140 or e-mail gumbootconnection@telus.net.
