Mindil Beach Markets plays at the Roberts Creek Hall on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Roberts Creek Hall will be rocking Saturday night to the tunes of a great band with lots of local ties to the Sunshine Coast.

Mindil Beach Markets, featuring Coasters Daniel Kingsbury, Pat Codere, Matt Posnikoff, Rod Campbell and Cam Ainslie, are coming home tomorrow night (Nov. 18) for their long-awaited CD release party. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

Mindil Beach Markets was October’s band of the month on Victoria’s The Zone 91.3 FM. They are filling Vancouver Island venues and have an exploding fan base. Their music is primarily dub rock, often heavy and some rap. Sophisticated instrumentation, downright amazing vocals and powerful, timely lyrics will keep you dancing all night long.

Three of the band members founded the famous Waking Life project at Chatelech Secondary School that in 2005 raised more than $8,000. Waking Life is now part of the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation’s Music for Youth Endowment Fund.

Tickets for the concert are $15, or $20 including the new CD, available at Chemistry in Upper Gibsons, Mike’s Place in Lower Gibsons, Roberts Creek General Store and Lucy’s in Sechelt.
