What the heck is this thing? If you think you know, bring your answer to the Antiques Roadshow March 20.

What’s in your trunk or attic? Do you have a family treasure or unusual collectible that you would like more information on or know the value of?

If so, then mark March 20 on your calendar for the ninth annual Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives Antiques Roadshow. This major fundraising event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre. Fascinating and valuable items have been “discovered” in the past — will yours be the next discovery?

Qualified appraisers generously donate their time and expertise to appraise a variety of items including paintings, stamps and coins, silver and jewellery, works of art, rare books, collectibles, china, military items and more.

Appraisals are limited to a maximum of three items per person so as many participants as possible can be seen.

Admission is free; appraisals will cost $10 for one item, $15 for two items and $20 for three items.

See heritage displays by the museum as well as by the Egmont Heritage Centre, Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society and the Sechelt Archives. In addition, musuem gift shop items, sandwiches, baked goods and refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to support museum services and programs. Donations are also greatly appreciated, or you can support the museum by becoming a member.

Can you guess what the item in the photo above is? If you know, bring your answer to the museum or the Roadshow and enter a draw to win a museum gift pack valued at more than $100 plus a free, one-year museum membership. The mystery item is currently on display in the museum gift shop. The winner’s name will be drawn and announced at the end of the show.

For more information, please call the museum at 604-886-8232 or see www.sunshinecoastmuseum.ca.
