B.C. Lions coach and general manager Wally Buono will be in Sechelt on Saturday night March 20 for faith, family and football, a dinner presented by the Men of Bethel (Bethel Baptist Church).

Coast residents will have a chance to meet the all-time leader in coaching wins in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Wally Buono, and hear how faith, family and football have shaped his life.

The head coach and general manager of the B.C. Lions will speak at a dinner presented by the Men of Bethel (Bethel Baptist Church) on Saturday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sechelt Indian Band hall.

Enjoy a traditional Coast Salish feast and find out how faith, family and football have helped Buono overcome challenges and find victory in his professional and personal life.

Buono is entering his eighth season as Lions GM and head coach. During the past seven seasons, Buono has led the Lions to seven playoff appearances, five consecutive appearances in the West Division Final and a crossover visit to the East Final as well as a Grey Cup Championship in 2006. In 2009, Buono surpassed Don Matthews’ 232 victories to become the all-time leader in coaching wins and now has 235 entering the 2010 campaign. He is also the Lions leader in career wins as head coach with 82.

Tickets for the dinner are $35. Cheques should be made payable to Bethel Baptist. For more information, call Bethel Baptist at 604-885-3919. Net proceeds from the dinner will go to support the food bank.
