Children are invited to ‘follow the reader’ this summer at the Gibsons and District Public Library.

Children aged five to 12 can participate in this free program by signing up for the summer reading club July 9 to Aug. 14.

Summer reading club events and activities include crafts, games, prizes, story time, and guest speakers. This exciting and educational province-wide program encourages children to read during the summer holidays and to maintain and develop the literacy skills that they acquired during the school year. The summer reading club reaches more than 85,000 children in B.C. every summer and is sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association with funding assistance from the Public Library Services Branch, Ministry of Education.

Summer reading club is by registration only in person at the library or by calling 604-886-2130. The club runs Thursdays July 9 to Aug. 13 for ages nine to 12 and Friday’s July 10 to Aug. 14 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for ages five to eight.
