Canadian Federation of University Women Sunshine Coast Branch held their annual Strawberry Tea and Mad Hatters fundraiser on June 11. A stunning array of hats and fascinators brightened up the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club. About 50 women attended the event that benefits the organization’s bursary fund. The money goes to support mature women in their quest for more education. The fine food provided by Jackie Coombs and her staff at the golf club added greatly to the festivities. This year the most beautiful hat prize went to the beaded lady, Matilda Naidoo and the funniest to the birded lady, Barbara Cochran. Sechelt councillor Alice Lutes, one of the judges, said the competition was fierce for the coveted prizes and picking the winners was tough.
