Eight-year-old Ryder Grattan sat down to have his long blond hair chopped off for charity April 14. Ryder and his mother spent the afternoon in front of the Sol Mare salon in Sechelt, collecting donations up until the big moment at 3:45 p.m. Several residents, including eight-year-old Jenna Beaton, took the opportunity to also donate their hair to Angel Hair for Kids, an organization that makes natural wigs for children. After a stylist cut off Ryder’s pony tail, the good Samaritan said he would consider growing it again, expressly to help kids undergoing treatments. Angel Hair for Kids said it takes between eight and 10 donations to make a child’s wig.
