Coasters will have to tune in tomorrow (March 19) to see if Gibsons' Elisa Hendricks will win $25,000 for having the best appetizer in Recipe to Riches on CBC.

If she wins, Hendricks will also have her appetizer sold across the country as a President's Choice product.

The competition-style reality series pits amateur cooks from across Canada against each other in different food categories.

Hendricks auditioned for the show last summer after being a faithful watcher for two seasons.

I was a big fan of the show. I thought it was really interesting and different and very cool to see Canadian home cooks competing and it sort of inspired me, she said. When I heard about the auditions on CBC I wanted to give it a try.

Hendricks made the cut and travelled to Toronto to film the show with two other cooks who were competing in the same category.

Hendricks pitted her appetizer against theirs in a series of trials that included making 500 portions of the dish in a professional kitchen and then marketing the appetizer to customers.

My recipe is Italian Lollipops and my joke is that if Italians had lollipops it would be meat and cheese on a stick so that's essentially what it is, Hendricks said. It's an old family recipe that I kind of reinvented and it's Friulano cheese, which is the cheese from the part of Italy that my Dad is from. It's wrapped in Mortadella and then it's got a crispy coating on it and it's on a stick. So it's really crispy and crunchy on the outside and then really melty on the inside.

Hendricks said her experience filming the show was amazing and that it's been very difficult to keep quiet about it until now.

Information about who is on the show is strictly embargoed until just a few days before it airs.

I can't wait. We're having a party tomorrow and having some friends over to watch it so that should be fun to watch it all together and see how it all turns out, she said.

The Recipe to Riches show Hendricks will be featured on airs on CBC at 9 p.m. on March 19.

Those who watch the show will get clues that allow them to later go online and vote for a grand prize winner, which will receive $250,000.
